How do you update a 100+ year old brand, remind lapsed local fans of its origin and history, appeal to new consumers nationally, and modernize language around usage occasion? Ask Wisconsin/Dallas, Texas based Altura Design. Recently, Frango Chocolates tapped the team at Altura Design for a brand and packaging re-fresh.

Now that Frango Chocolate is once again family-owned (by Chicago’s Garrett Brands, which also owns Garrett Popcorn Shops®), they wanted to remind consumers of the brand’s origin as a specialty gift, and widen its appeal as a simple, everyday luxury.

With a custom marble design, embossed gold seal and category flavor-cue colors all grounded by the brand’s historic dark green, the box honors the brand’s heritage and marries it with a modern feel – standing out from the likes of Godiva and Lindt.

“Giving the box – and the brand – a sense of history, importance and premium quality was key to reinvigorate Frango’s mint chocolate. We want fans to enjoy this whenever they need a moment of simple luxury in their day,” said Altura Design’s founder Caroline Reeve.
